Through Apricity Publishing, the book publishing arm of Slate | Spark, we’re opening submissions for our first anthology, America 2026: The Politics We Carry Home. This is a call for writing that reflects how this political moment is being lived, not just observed.
Most of what’s shaping this moment isn’t making headlines.
Today we launch America 2026: The Politics We Carry Home, Apricity Publishing’s first anthology.

At Apricity Publishing, we started with a simple idea: politics is no longer something we watch, it’s something we live.
It’s shaping relationships. It’s showing up at dinner tables. It’s changing how people see themselves and each other in ways that rarely make headlines.
This anthology will bring together a small number of nonfiction and fiction pieces that capture that reality, writing rooted in proximity, not commentary. We’re looking for work that reflects what it actually feels like to move through this moment.
Selected contributors will:
- Have their work published in a nationally distributed anthology
- Receive 10 complimentary copies of the finished book
- Be featured with a professional author bio alongside their work
- Be included in coordinated promotion across Apricity Publishing platforms
- Earn $0.25 per copy sold through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other retail outlets
- Receive a professionally written press release template and promotional assets to support their own visibility
Submissions are open now through July 15.
The anthology will hit the book world in early December 2026.
If you’ve been carrying a story about this moment, this is the place for it.
